 The moon is Earth's companion. The moon orbits the earth once every 28 days. The moon's surface is covered with craters, mountains, and smooth lava beds. Craters are caused by objects hitting the moon. The moon has no real atmosphere. Humans who visit the moon must take their own air with them. People first visited the moon in 1969. The first man to step on the moon was an American named Neil Armstrong. The moon does not make its own light. The sun shines on it. The moon seems to change shape, but it does not.
