The 1000 Books Program
About the Project Research has shown that children who are read to have a better chance of becoming successful readers and learners. As part of the Livonia Preschool Project, the 1000 books Program aims to provide families with access to a fine collection of books.

  • Housed in the Livonia Primary School Library, the 1000 Books Program is a collection of 1000 books, organized into 100 bags of 10 books each.

  • Any child under age 7 living in the Livonia School District may register!

  • Families register their children, and visit the Primary School Library to borrow one bag of books at a time.  Every time you visit, you check off which "Book Bag" you have read with your child.

  • Read at your own pace.  There's no time limit.

  • Keep reading, until you reach the 100th bag.  That's 1000 books!
